Natalie experienced an incredible opportunity taking part in Advanced Acupuncture training and Clinical Placement in the hospitals of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in China.
The Guangdong Provincial hospital of Chinese Medicine where she attended was ranked First on the Top 100 Most Competitive TCM Hospital’s in China, ranked 38th nationwide in the Science & Technology Evaluation metrics and held the top position among TCM hospitals in this metric for 6 consecutive years. Spending time with renowned TCM Masters and listening to their thinking and watching them apply their techniques was an immense opportunity as well as seeing how Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are integrated in practice in China.
Natalie had the privilege of time with Dr Liuning Li, Oncology Department and seeing the application of Acupuncture in Cancer rehabilitation treatment there. Time in Gynecology including a lecture from Professor Limin on acupuncture therapy for gynecological diseases. There was also an opportunity to shadow Dr Li Young, Neurology and specialist in Facial Paralysis and Pain.
Along with this time in the hospitals, Natalie also attended a number of lectures / presentations from the Departments of Acupuncture and Moxibustion on different techniques and thinking including the Pro Jin Rui 3 needle technique. Time was also spent with Deputy Chief Physician Dr Li on Yingxiang thinking and Dr Zuo Changbos acupuncture techniques.
Abdominal Acupuncture is extensively applied in China and is one of the exciting microforms of acupuncture she studied there along with Auricular Acupuncture and others. Abdominal Acupuncture is recognized as the second brain, with more nerve cells than the brain and spinal cord combined. As a result, it has huge control over our emotional wellbeing as well as our overall health and is particularly important in the regulation of our digestion. Today the abdomen is used to treat the entire body. Natalie has now incorporated abdominal acupuncture into her treatments in her clinic.
This experience and gaining insight into these exciting concepts helps combine thinking and acupuncture techniques to improve her knowledge and skills.
Natalie enjoyed time out in the vibrant cities of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Macau exploring the historical landmarks, immersing in the whole mind body culture of China, meditating in the Sacred Temples and enjoying local traditions including Tai chi and Qigong.
Forever grateful to the amazing Sang Man, Teacher College of Medical Acupuncture and TCM in Shannon for this awe-inspiring experience and so very grateful for the time to learn from renowned TCM Masters.
